How do I reset my password from the Abby app?
The fastest way to reset your password is from the sign-in screen of the Abby Health app or the secure web portal at app.abbyhealth.app.
- Open the app or visit the sign-in page.
- Tap Forgot password below the password field.
- Enter the email address you used to sign up. If you signed up with Apple ID, choose Sign in with Apple instead — your Apple ID controls that login, not Abby.
- Open the email we send and tap the secure reset link.
- Choose a new password, then sign in.
The reset link is single-use and expires after a short window for your security. If it expires, just request a new one.
What if the password reset email never arrives?
Most missing emails come down to one of three things. Work through them in order:
- Check spam, junk, and promotions. Reset emails sometimes land outside the inbox, especially on Outlook and Gmail.
- Confirm the email address. Many patients have a personal Gmail and a work email. We only send the link to the address tied to your account.
- Wait two minutes, then try again. Email delivery can be delayed at peak times.
If you have tried all three and still nothing has arrived, message our team in the app. We can confirm which email is on file and resend the link manually. The Office of the Australian Information Commissioner explains your privacy rights when verifying account ownership — we follow those rules carefully, which is why we will not change the email on an account without confirming who you are.
What makes a strong password for a health account?
Your Abby account holds your medical history, e-scripts, and referrals, so the password matters. A few habits go a long way:
- Use a passphrase of three or more random words rather than a single word with numbers tacked on.
- Avoid reusing a password from email, banking, or shopping. If one of those services is breached, your health record should not be affected.
- Save it in a password manager so you do not have to remember it. Most modern phones have one built in.
- Turn on biometric sign-in (Face ID or fingerprint) inside the app for faster, safer access.
For wider digital health safety, Healthdirect publishes plain-English guidance on protecting your personal health information.
How do I change my password if I am still signed in?
If you remember your current password but want to change it — say, after using a shared device — you do not need the reset flow at all.
- Open the Abby app and go to Profile.
- Tap Account settings.
- Choose Change password and enter the current and new password.
If you suspect someone else has used your account, change the password immediately and message support so we can review recent activity. We treat any signal of unauthorised access seriously — the Abby team explains exactly what Abby will never ask you to do, which is a useful reference if you ever feel something is off.
What if I am locked out completely?
Too many failed sign-in attempts will lock the account for a short time as a safety measure. Wait fifteen minutes, then try again with the right password or use the reset flow. If you have lost access to the email on your account, the best path is the troubleshooting flow in what to do if you have trouble signing in. From there, our team can verify your identity and update the email on file.
Once you are back in, take a minute to check your details under updating your name, email and Medicare info so future appointments and prescriptions reach the right inbox.
