What to Do If You Have Trouble Signing In

Last Updated
April 25, 2026

If you are having trouble signing in to Abby Health, work through four checks in order. First, confirm you are using the email or Apple ID you signed up with. Second, reset your password from the sign-in screen. Third, try a different device or the web app. Fourth, message our support team in the app. Most sign-in issues come down to a wrong email or a forgotten password — both are usually solved in a couple of minutes.

What to do if you have trouble signing in to Abby Health

If you are having trouble signing in to Abby Health, work through four checks in order. First, confirm you are using the email or Apple ID you signed up with. Second, reset your password from the sign-in screen. Third, try a different device or the web app. Fourth, message our support team in the app. Most sign-in issues come down to a wrong email or a forgotten password — both are usually solved in a couple of minutes.

Am I using the right sign-in method?

The single most common cause of sign-in trouble is using the wrong path. Abby supports two sign-in methods, and they do not mix.

  • Email and password — if you signed up with an email address, sign in with that same email.
  • Apple ID — if you tapped Sign in with Apple at sign-up, you cannot sign in with a password. Use the Apple button each time.

Many patients have both a personal Gmail and a work email, and try the wrong one. If you are not sure, try resetting the password on each, in turn — only the right account will accept the reset.

How do I reset my password?

If your email is correct but the password is wrong, reset it from the sign-in screen.

  1. Open the Abby app or visit app.abbyhealth.app.
  2. Tap Forgot password.
  3. Enter your registered email.
  4. Open the link in the email we send (check spam if it does not appear).
  5. Choose a new password and sign in.

The full walkthrough is in resetting my password. Reset links are single-use and expire quickly — request a new one if it stops working.

What if I am locked out after too many tries?

For security, your account locks for fifteen minutes after several failed sign-in attempts. The lock clears automatically. Try again after the wait — or use the Forgot password flow, which works even when the account is locked.

If the lock keeps repeating, that is usually a sign that the password being entered is genuinely wrong. Reset it rather than retrying.

Have I tried a different device or the web app?

Sometimes the issue is the device, not the account.

  • Open the web app at app.abbyhealth.app in any modern browser. If you can sign in there, the app on your phone needs an update or a re-install.
  • Update the Abby app to the latest version from the App Store.
  • Sign out of the app, force-close it, and sign in again — that clears most stuck sessions.
  • Check your network. A weak connection can fail sign-in silently. Try Wi-Fi vs mobile data.

The Healthdirect service offers a 24/7 phone line on 1800 022 222 if you need health advice immediately while you sort out the app.

What if my email no longer works?

If the email on your account is one you no longer access — say, an old work address — the reset link will not reach you. In that case, message our support team in the app or email support@abbyhealth.com from any address. We will verify your identity and switch the email on file.

Identity verification follows the standards set by the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. We may ask for ID, your date of birth, your Medicare number, or recent appointment details to confirm it is really you.

How do I avoid this happening again?

A few small habits reduce future trouble:

  • Save your Abby password in a password manager (most phones have one built in).
  • Turn on biometric sign-in (Face ID or fingerprint) inside the app for one-tap access.
  • Keep your contact details current — especially the email on file.
  • Use a personal email address rather than a work address that could be revoked.

If you ever suspect someone else has used your account, change the password immediately and message support. We can review recent activity. Our short note on what Abby will never ask you to do is a useful reference.
