I've spent more than twenty-five years in general practice, across a lot of different conditions and a lot of different settings. Time like that teaches you to listen first and assume less.

Alongside everyday care, I've done extra training in mental health and women's health, two areas where being properly heard often matters as much as the medicine. I'm an easy person to talk to, and I think that's half of what makes a consult work.

After all these years, the part I still value most is a patient feeling they can say the real thing out loud. That's where we'll always start.
