I have been a GP for more than thirty years now, in Australia and overseas, and for a good stretch of that I taught the doctors coming up behind me. Teaching keeps you honest. It reminds you to explain things simply and to keep asking why.
A lot of my work is in women's health, including the conversations that never seem to get enough time, like menopause and contraception. But I'm glad to help with most things that bring you to a GP. If thirty years has taught me anything, it's that being properly listened to is half the medicine.
Before all this, I studied writing, and I still believe the right words, said plainly, can lift a good deal of worry off a hard day.
I'd be glad to look after you.
