How do I get an STI test online?

Last Updated
June 23, 2026

A GP or nurse practitioner can discuss your situation during a telehealth consultation and, if appropriate, issue a pathology request for an STI test. You then give your sample at a collection centre.

A GP or nurse practitioner can discuss your situation during a telehealth consultation and, if appropriate, issue a pathology request for an STI test. You then give your sample at a collection centre.

How it works

Book a telehealth appointment, answer a few questions in private before your consult, and discuss which tests suit your situation. If appropriate, your clinician issues a pathology request, and your results are reviewed with you afterwards.

Do STIs always have symptoms?

No. Many sexually transmitted infections cause no symptoms at all, so testing is the only reliable way to know. Testing is worth considering with a new partner, more than one partner, or any concern.

Is it confidential?

Yes. Your consultation is confidential and your information is protected under Australian privacy law. For the consultation: Bulk billed for eligible patients with a valid Medicare card. Strict eligibility criteria apply.
